"Recovering from RTA"

I was initially brought in following a severe RTA in A&E. Here I found the care amazing. I was immediately greeted and the staff went systematically through any injury that I could have sustained . I was informed all the time as to what was happening and what they found. An x-ray was conducted as required. I was admitted and put into the dependency unit. They were monitoring possible internal injuries. Again fantastic care was given. This was not just physically but also emotionally as others had passed away in RTA. This care was continued in ward C4 and especially in F18. The nurses were so considerate and continually had a smile and a positive attitude no matter what shift they were on. Nothing was too much trouble but they also allowed me to do things for myself to support my progress. I was informed all the time about what was happening and why. I was so impressed with the NHS care. My only gripe was I needed an ambulance relay home. They did not consider my injury and I was made to sit in a seat with no support for my broken leg. I had to hold it up myself with a piece of bandage as I was unable to bear it. Relay staff thus need training in patient support so that the good work of the hospital is not put back by relay services.
