"Excellent Stay"

About: Clementine Churchill Hospital

We have visited The Clementine Churchill 8 times in 9 months, starting in October 2013, through to July 2014, when our son had surgery for scoliosis. He was under a consultant, who is, quite honestly wonderful. Their secretary, is very helpful and patient. We found the accomodation very clean, comfortable and pleasing. the whole atmosphere upstairs is very nice indeed, everyone is happy and you get a smile from everyone you pass in the corridors. Our son had very good nursing attendance and pain control. Our experience in ICU was excellent too. The housekeeping staff were excellent - always bringing meals with a smile and knocking on the door before they entered the room. Also it was never any trouble to supply something for our son that wasn't on the menu, and tea and coffee for parents was available whenever we wanted it.The cleaners did a very good job in such a polite and happy way. We remember one who cleaned our room so many times, and always asked before coming in. The food in the restaurant (for parents) was very nice, with a surprising variety and very good value-for-money, with generous helpings. The staff were very friendly - in particular we remember one who was consistently happy and kind. The Spinal Nurse is just fantastic, so caring and yet so firm and knowledgeable. We also got on very well with the Pysiotherapists, who are a very firm but positive bunch and always seemed to get the best out of our son and knew exactly how far to push him. We had the same one for every day except one, and they were brilliant. We could not have asked for anything more. The only negative points I can think of were that on one or two occasions, particularly at the weekend, there were some agency nurses there, who didn;t seem to know much about our son's condition and we felt we had to keep an eye on what they were doing. Also just one other slight negative were some of the outpatient booking clerks, the ones that see you in for your outpatient appointments, and call your name out etc - on the first few visits we found some of them rather cold and austere, enough to make us wonder if this was really a private hospital. In the overall though, we enjoyed our stay at the CCH, and our son did too, as much as a patient ever does!! It was an excellent experience with excellent care and attention. The hospital is in a very nice setting and the free car park is a real bonus. I don;t know what to say the best part was - but anyway we would have no hesitation in recommending the hospital to anyone adn we look forward to returning soon for our son's post-op consultation!
