"I feel very fortunate to have been able to be treated"

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital / Gynaecology The Princess Royal Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was first referred to see Dr. Sharon Oates many years ago after I’d had two miscarriages following the birth of my first son. I was 39 years old then and thinking I possibly shouldn’t be trying for another child. Dr. Oates’ encouragement and confidence that I should continue is the reason my 2nd son is here, I’m very grateful to her.

More recently I’ve seen Dr. Oates regarding my prolapsed womb, she initially encouraged me to do exercises, which helped the situation for a long time but following difficulties with my smear test she recommended and fitted a ring - this has improved life dramatically for me, I hadn’t realised how much I’d been avoiding before I had this.

Dr. Oates has been totally receptive to my wishes that I’d prefer to try anything other than surgery for the prolapse and so far this has been very successful. Dr Oates has been practical and honest with me but also extremely kind and understanding. I feel very fortunate to have been able to be treated by Dr. Oates, I have complete confidence in her absolute professionalism, knowledge and ability. If I do have further gynaecological problems in the future, I would have no hesitation in requesting to be referred to Dr. Oates.
