My time at the hospital was all around brilliant, although the lady from triage told me to come back in the morning when I rang up telling her I was in labour, if I didn't ring back and tell her I had to come in my son would have not survived as he was born that morning via c section because he had the cord wrapped around his neck. I was also home alone with no one to help me. Once I got to the hospital she was great, so was everyone on the delivery suite! They rushed me in for an emergency c section (prepped me as quick as possible) to then take me back to my room I was so confused they did not talk me through what was going on! Other than that I was very happy with everything, the maternity ward and scbu was unbelievably great!! They did everything they could to help me through my recovery, I couldn't get out of bed to get my son out of his cot without being in unreal pain, they helped and looked after him so I could catch up on my sleep, I also managed to get a private room in scbu to be closer to my boy as it was a long walk from the maternity ward. There was a lack of communication with one nurse which made my stay longer and I wasn't happy but luckily my nan used to work on scbu and they let me go home earlier than they wanted me to leave. If it wasn't for my nan I would have been stuck there, using up a room may I add unnecessarily. I can't thank the nurses enough they were excellent, after reading bad reviews from Hereford hospital I was going to go elsewhere but it was too much hassle to change and I'm glad I didn't! I can't imagine why people have bad experiences at Hereford hospital they must have had grumpy nurses on shift at the time!
