"Emergency operation for a torn and detached Retina"

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

I was seen by an excellent Dr on a Saturday afternoon, she arranged for an emergency operation which took place the following Sunday morning. I met with the Consultant and one of his team, both were professional and efficient, but at the same time were considerate and understanding of my feelings. The operation went well, the anaesthetist was very patient and skilled as were the rest of the team involved. The operation took approx 3 hours, I was awake and kept informed of what was happening and how progress was going. So far, follow up care has been equally impressive. I compliment this department wholeheartedly.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. It's good to hear the operation went well and we hope you're now recovering well at home. We will pass your comments on to the ophthalmology department, but if you'd like to leave more specific feedback or say thanks to the individuals involved in your care and treatment, you can call our patient liaison (PALS) team who'd be more than happy to help you. PALS can be contacted on pals.gloucestershirehospitals@glos.nhs.uk or 0800 019 3282. Thanks again, The team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
