"What is the point of having a number that is not answered?"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

(as a relative),

My mother went into hospital this morning. I phoned the Hospital on 01202 303626 to find out where she is. It rung for a long time and then went dead.

What is the point of having a number on the website that is not answered? If you had to sell your services then it would be answered.

Answer: take the number off the website and get relatives to ring round all the wards to see if they can find their loved ones.

Very disappointed.

Dear Stoneman

I am so sorry that you are so dissapointed. Please let me first offer our sincere apologies that this is your experience, at what I am sure is a worrying time as you try to locate the ward your Mother has been admitted to. This is an unusual problem we have faced today at the Trust and the number on the website is correct.

I have just spoken with the managers of telephone services, who were aware there was a fault on the line and had been trying to resolve the issue as a matter of urgency today.

The engineers have been in the Trust this afternoon and the repairs have been completed within the last hour. Again I apologise for the inconvenience caused and hope you appreciate the unusual circumstances and our endeavours for a quick resolution.

We would like to wish your Mother well and if you would like to discuss this further please contact the PALs department on 01202 704886.
