My husband was admitted to the Cardiothoracic Centre in Liverpool in January this year. What I thought was particularly good about the services was the excellent nursing and care provided to close relatives as there were no strict visiting hours. The nurses have become our friends due to my husband being admitted approximately five or six times yearly for periods of up to five weeks. The only concern I have about the services provided is the catering. For example, there was an excellent Christmas dinner and desert but the evening buffet was very dry. There was little butter on the bread and no relish or potato salad to make it more appetising. Also the mashed potato should not be instant. Therefore, I think they could improve their services by serving hot food, more appetising sandwiches with a dressing or potato salad on the side. Instant mash should be a "no no" for people in hospital. Ready peeled potatoes can be bought and easily mashed in the kitchen.
"Instant mash should be a "no no"!"
