"Induction of labour, haunt me forever."

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

Upon arriving for a morning induction I was greeted by a bay (that had just been cleaned) that was filthy. There was a radio playing loud kiss fm, not the most relaxing! Was nervous of procedure and so wanted to discuss other options ie being monitored and allowing more time for baby to come of his own accord. Normal pregnancy with no complications just overdue. Had the most awful dr who told me "how would I feel if my baby died" and that my placenta had probably gone off. Snapped at me " are you a dr?" In a patronising manner, also told me I would likely end up with an emergency c sec with the induction and was generally very rude. I was in complete meltdown petrified of what was going to happen to my baby and this really didn't help. They then called in another dr who repeated the same and went on to say the baby was too big for me to deliver naturally and lots of babies died in the old days when thing were done more naturally. I gave in as I was exausted and couldn't stand up for myself anymore. 8 hours later after constant fetal distress following a.r.m and syntocin drip I had an emergency c sec and my massive 5lb12 oz baby was born. Midwives and surgery team were wonderful. Can't fault the care and attention they gave us. I've been left massively distraught by my experience though and still have flash backs to the things the Drs said and laying listening to my babys heart beat drop for too many hours.
