"Ward D5"

I cannot praise the staff on D5 enough. I have had 3 operations in 4 month period on this ward and although it has a high turnover of patients I never felt like just another number. The staff are very caring and nothing was too much trouble including stopping and having a chat. The cleanliness of the ward is very good and the cleaner is a whirlin dervish never stopping other than to have a joke with the nurses. I was dreading going into hospital as you hear horror stories on the news but all the care I have had at Stepping Hill has been first rate. My only criticism of ward D5 is its location, from the ward you walk to theatre through reception where people are waiting and coming back you are pushed back the same way which is a little embarrassing, however one of the nurses did tell me this was likely to change in the next couple of years when new buildings are being built. Overall a great hospital.
