"fractured thumb"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

I am disgusted by the a&e department made me feel like I was putting it on . And sent me home , I then went back to my doctors the following week and he looked at my x ray and said my thumb was fractured so how could a &e miss this . I have now got a splint on my thumb do not know how long I have to keep it on and rang fracture clinic today for them to tell me my appointment is in 3 weeks time . So in the meanwhile I cannot go to work as I need full use of both my hands . I am disgusted with the way I was treated .

Dear Sarah, I am sorry to hear of the problems you faced and of your ongoing difficulties. Please could you give us some more details via our Patient Information and Liaison Service (PILS) via our website http://www.leicestershospitals.nhs.uk/patients/patient-welfare/patient-information-and-liaison-service/ or email: pils@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or free phone 08081 788337. This will allow us to investigate the matter and feedback to the Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre as appropriate. It would also give us a chance to answer any questions you may have regarding looking after your injury and work restrictions till you are seen in the Fracture Clinic. Sincerely, Dr. Pro Mukherjee Consultant in Emergency Medicine Leicester's Hospitals
