" staff treat me well and I can approach them"

About: Airedale Centre for Mental Health / Adult mental health service

(as a service user),

I came here under section of the mental health act. I didn’t want to be here, I will say food is excellent, staff treat me well and I can approach them.

At certain times of the day I see there are not enough staff and so activities are not organised.

The environment is clean and people are very caring.

It is reassuring to hear that despite you not wanting to be here in our care, you have acknowledged the good treatment afforded to you by our staff; thank you for that. All the Hotel Services, Housekeeping and Ward staff will be pleased to read your message. It is great to know everyone is approachable.

There is a schedule of daily activities at the Airedale Centre however not all of these are delivered by our own staff. Sometimes, if people are on holiday or ill then those activities don’t go ahead. Likewise, if the ward is particularly busy then plans have to change. We are constantly reviewing our activates and looking at new ways to keep people occupied and interested.

Similarly, our staffing levels are under review. We recognise the impact that sickness absence, holidays and training requirements have on our staff and where there are gaps we always make effort to get agency or temporary worker support. On a daily basis we record on every ward what the staffing levels should be and what is actually present. This helps us track over time the true gap in our frontline staffing levels.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback.
