I moved into my new house just before my baby was born last year. I have MS and had been advised that after the birth my condition was likely to get worse. As I have quite complicated MS symptoms, including much reduced mobility, I rang the community rehab team to introduce myself and discuss my situation.
The team were fantastic to respond. I had an OT, Physio and support assistant visit my house for a combined meeting within two weeks of my call. We sat and discussed my situation, then they went round the house with a view to finding ways to help me.
I received equipment to help me with my mobility etc around the house then they left me to get on with having my baby, always keeping in touch by phone to check I was ok. Once the baby came, we started on regular sessions with the OT and Physio to help me keep my mobility up. I had some difficult months due to infections, but the team were always there, ready to help.
It is only now, a year later, that they have signed me off as I've progressed really well, but the whole team insist that if I need some support or advice, they are always at the end of the phone. It is so helpful to know that they are there should I need them. They are a fantastic team, very caring and resourceful.
