"Trauma"

About: University Hospital Aintree

I am a male patient, I received an operation for bladder cancer on the 23rd July 2014, I had a catheter and irrigation fitted, after recovery I was taken to ward 2 by 2 male nurses, on our way there somehow the tubes from my catheter where pulled with some force enabling the irrigation tube to be pulled hard forcing it to be disconnected then to be refitted in the corridor also leaving a puddle on the floor. My first night on ward 2 I had to be given a double dose of morphine orally from a syringe to alleviate the shear pain I was in. I mentioned this to members of staff on the ward, also to the doctor I seen the next morning, who told me that it must have been traumatic, my concern is, why or how did this happen? why was there no apology from anyone? My catheter was removed the next morning. I was asked to give my bed up for a new patient coming to the ward, the said patient had spinal problems and just had an operation for his kidney stones, I agreed to this, but had to sit in the staff day-room, I felt uncomfortable when nurses came in to discuss patients I felt I had to leave as I felt I was intruding, the wait for my bed in the next room, took 4 hours. The care from operating room to discharge was only marred by the 2 issues mentioned. I am still considering taking this matter further.
