"Concern for the elderly patients at Trafford General"

About: Trafford General Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I'm a bit of a regular at Trafford General, and something that happened last March has been on my mind since then.

I was staying on a ward with many other elderly patients and for all of us the buzzers to call the nurses were out of reach. It really annoyed me. Once I was able to get out of bed and move around, I went round the ward and moved all the buzzers closer to the patients. The nurses didn't seem to like this.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope. It is important to us that comments like yours are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

We take all issues surrounding patient care very seriously and in response to your comments, I can tell you that your concerns have been raised directly with the Matron’s to enable them to review current practice in each of their ward areas, so that others don’t experience the same issues as you did.

It is difficult to respond to all the posts in a full way often because of a lack of detailed information, therefore if you would like to discuss this with us in more detail, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
