"I was in Frimley Park Hospital ..."

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was in Frimley Park Hospital Wards F6 and F7 29 January to 3rd February for a TURP.

The medical procedure seemed to be excellent, as one would expect.

I would like to commend the nursing staff, who worked very hard and took great trouble to treat patients as individuals and care for their needs.

I was particularly impressed by the patience and care shown by the nursing staff to one or two patients who, for various reasons, caused difficulties from time to time.

The ward and bathrooms seemed to be very clean, and care was being taken to disinfect hands between patients.

The food was excellent.

Overall, full marks, and many thanks for your care.

What could be improved

Because of the snow on 2 February, I did not get a pre-discharge briefing on 2 / 3 February or a chance to ask my consultant.

While recognising that all patients are different, it would have been helpful to have been given a sheet of does and don'ts on driving, not lifting heavy objects, how soon it would be ok to walk how far, when to resume my regular daily asprin, and so on. I was given some of this at my pre-op check-up, but it would have been easier to have something written.

Maybe the patient information system could generate such an information sheet by combining standard paragraphs.
