"The worry I have been through is unforgettable"

About: Heartlands Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

My operation was performed in March by a fantastic team.

On my discharge notes, it said that I needed a check up re my cancer, in 2 months time, May.

No notification came in May, so I rang the Appointments office 3 times during the next few weeks. Every time I was told that my name was on the list.

Eventually I went to see my GP who contacted the hospital and an appointment was then sent.

I have been worried all the time since March to see what the biopsy result is (OK I am pleased to say)

Surely there is a better way of coordinating appointments than the current system? The worry I have been through is unforgettable.

Dear elsie jackie

Thank you for getting in contact with us regarding the delay in getting your follow -up appointment at Heartlands.

I am so sorry that we added additional distress by you having to chase up your appointment and contacting our GP for in-put.

Could you please contact me at Patient Services 424 0808 so that we can look into your case?

With kind regards

Iona
