"Eye surgery and need for glasses"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Ear, Nose & Throat Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Ophthalmology

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter went into hospital with perfect eye sight. She went for a 'simple' procedure to unblock her tear duct. There was a little more blood than usual but we were told all was fine.

Recently we had her check up at the eye pavilion where they retested her eye sight and she now is long sighted in the same eye she had the operation on......coincidence....?

She now needs glasses whereas she wouldn't have if she didn't go for that operation.
