"Cardiology"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

I am a new patient to Cardiology and was directed to D clinic to await consultation.I am not a whining sort or person but the lack of team work on the reception desk in D did not inspire confidence ..At one point there were 8 members of staff sorting patient files out. There was no order to the preliminary tests such as ECG and weighing/blood pressure and when I was seen , the consultant didn't have this info to refer to.I was pleased with the time and information I was given once my appointment came up but the strongest impression is one of clerical disorganisation that does not allow me to be assured that follow up tests on my clinical outcome sheet will be forthcoming.A worrying situation to be in -especially when it is to do with the heart!!

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is sorry to read of your experience. We have recently introduced a new patient system and it has caused some problems in our out patient clinics particularly with regard to notes not always being available for the clinics. I hope this was the cause of the situation you have reported and that you will have confidence in our service. If you have any further concerns ot questions please contact our PALS service pals@imperial.nhs.uk who will be happy to help.
