"Excellent care on Ward E56"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

My late father in law was admitted to Ward E56 and we have nothing but praise for his care from all the staff there. We were given information about his diagnosis and potential treatment all the way through his 5 week stay. Sadly there was not a positive outcome at the end but his passing was handled with great compassion and respect. We were also given privacy (and tea and coffee) at a most difficult time. We did use both the cafe and restaurant on several occasions and would also like to comment that the cafe does get rather too warm during the Summer months and could provide gluten free options. The restaurant provides rather too generous portions and perhaps an option for a half size could be considered?

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your late father-in-law's admission to Ward E56. It was very kind of you to do so and we will ensure this is shared with the ward team. I was pleased to read that you felt your father-in-law was treated with care and compassion and that as a family you were also supported and given privacy when needed as we do not underestimate how important this is when someone is nearing the end of their life. Thank you once again.
