About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead)

(as the patient),

What I liked

In the last month I have spent 90 minutes in th QVH over three visits waiting for my daughter who was applying for a post. I have never been so impressed by a hospital (and I know many up and down the country) as I am with the QVH. Most of my time was spent in the Spitfire Restaurant or the Hurricane Cafe. The catering staff were attentive and cheerful, the prices were reasonable, the range was good and the quality fine. Surroundings were comfortable, attractive and v. clean. The gents' toilet nearest the Spitfire was spotless and odourless (always a good test when forming an impression).

When I needed to make my way through the maze of walkways and corridors, I found the signing well designed and accurate and there was always a cheerful member of staff to point me in the right direction.

Reunited with my daughter, we both exclaimed spontaneusly,'There's a lovely feeling about this place!'.

What could be improved

If I'm going to be really pickey, there was a mild smell of urine in the gent's toilet nearest the Hurricane Cafe. Nowhere near food etc.. I wouldn't remark on it anywhere else but you are reaching for the highest standard!

It may not be within the QVH's remit but it would be practical to have a category of waiting in the carpark between 'short stay' (free for 20 mins) and 3 hours for £1.50 (perhaps 90mins for a pound).

Anything else?

PS. We.ve just heard: she got the job. What a wonderful place to work!
