"Our son has been there for over one month now and..."

About: Callington Road Hospital

Our son has been in Callington Road for over a month. During that time communication with staff has been appalling . We have written 3 letters to his doctors without any response or acknowledgement. I attended a review where the doctor did not turn up. The other staff there were junior and did not seem to have a clue what was happening. As an example one chap who said he had been assigned to our son Asa social worker but had not met him . However when I asked if he had any questions he said no !! There did not appear to be any interest at all. My wife goes through just about every day and comes away frustrated . No communication, no apparent treatment plan. Furthermore our son complained about severe toothache which was ignored by staff to a point where it was so severe and infected that he was admitted to hospital as an emergency . To me this is neglect. Overall we have very little confidence in the staff at Callington Road.

I am sorry that your family's and in particular your son’s experience of Callington Road Hospital was not to the high standard we would expect. In relation to the doctors not responding to you and the social worker showing no interest, we would like to know more details about this and we would be grateful if you could make contact with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 073 1778 or 01249 468 261 or via email on awp.pals@nhs.net to provide us with more details to help us address your concerns.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your experiences and we hope with further details, we will be able to address these issues to ensure we are constantly learning and trying to improve the care that we offer to our service users and their families.
