"nursing staff were great, shame about God complex..."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

I was admitted to ward 27 and was pleasantly surprised that all rooms were ensuite and clean . Throughout my stay the nurses were lovely. All showed care and most showed compassion. However the consultant I was given barely had the time or patience to discuss my fears over a new cyst that had been found despite me trying to ask my questions. He laughed at my concerns (despite knowing I'd almost died due to a tear In this organ two years ago) and even though my severe pain was in that area, wouldn't even explain to me what it was, where it had come from, what might happen to it etc.... Consultants must realize that it is our bodies!!!! And we need to know what is going on,even.if it means spending more than the 2minutes they give you . The nurses however, were lovely and I felt comfortable with their care

We're sorry to hear that part of your experience at the QE wasn't positive. We'd really like the chance to look into this more for you and find out what went wrong so we can improve the experience of other patients in the future. If you would like to help us do that you can contact our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) on 0800 953 0667 or pals@ghnt.nhs.uk.
