"Lack of communication at Trafford General Hospital "

About: Trafford General Hospital

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

About 1 year ago I had shoulder surgery at Trafford General. I'm celiac and have allergies to morphine and latex, which was diagnosed by Trafford General some time prior to going in for shoulder surgery. However, when I went in for the surgery, I was given morphine by mouth and ended up with lots of blisters on my mouth. Despite this, the staff there continued to give me morphine.

Because of my latex allergy, I was the first person due in for surgery that day. Despite this, they used a latex tube in my mouth.

On top of this, even though I told staff I am celiac, I was only offered gluten food throughout my stay, which I couldn't eat.

My stay was only supposed to be 2 days but because of the mistakes that were made, I was in for 8 days.

The long term impact of this operation and my hospital stay has been that my stomach is still not right. I've had scans and injections since then, but nothing is working. My shoulder wasn't even looked at in the end after the surgery because of the other symptoms I started to develop after the poor treatment I received.
