"Visit 2nd July 2014"

About: Diana, Princess Of Wales Hospital

On the morning of my 10.45 Appt with the Ophthalmology Dept., my wife injured her knee and as we thought it might be serious, I took her to A & E, just before my appointment time. I am also under the Urology Dept., and my Wife is cared for in Haematology(CLL) and Pink Rose(Breast Cancer). We have always found the Staff very caring and helpful. On my arrival at about 10.25 I was treated to kindness and help from the nurses, as usual, but my one complaint was that I found myself still waiting without any other patients at nearly 2pm. When I saw the Doctor the check up lasted about 3 minutes. You might alleviate this by altering the text of your appointment letters from "this may result in a 2 hour stay"! My Wife had an excellent experience in A&E and was examined and advised very quickly and finished up waiting for 40 minutes with me. I find this outstanding in the modern context!

Hello, many thanks for your comments, very glad to hear you had a positive experience. Thanks also for your suggestion about the appointment letters, it is something we are considering because, as you say, many patients will perhaps not be aware of the potential waits in clinics. Best wishes, Sarah Mainprize
