I attended Wythenshawe A&E on 9th May 2014 with extreme abdominal pain. My experience of A&E was quick and very thorough. Soon they took the decision to admit me to run further tests the following day. Considering the following was a Saturday, I wasn't sure what tests would be available. In the morning I was taken for an ultrasound after which I was told they had found a large mass which needed further exploratory tests to determine what it was. By lunchtime I was having a CT scan. I was on F16 and the staff were caring, sympathetic and understanding of the shock and confusion I was experiencing. My family were allowed to be with me through your the day which helped enourmously. Thankfully on Sunday, I was told the results of the CT scan showed that the football sized tumour I had appeared benign. I was booked for surgery to remove the tumour, total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo oopherectomy for 4th July. So just one week ago I arrived, extremely nervous, at the admissions lounge. I wish I could remember the names of all the lovely staff who dealt with me. I'd like to personally acknowledge the difference they made to me at a time when I felt very scared. Staff in the admissions lounge, lovely lady in waiting bay in theatre, anaesthetists (apologies for my rendition of Morning Has Broken!)), the wonderful caring nurse in recovery. And last but not least the staff on F16, particularly one nurse, who run around throughout her shift, like many others, with a smile and a commendable attitude to caring for patients. So a week on, and I'm recovering at a rate I didn't expect! I feel great! I really cannot thank the staff enough and I hope they read these reviews! Thank you for the big things you do to get us well, and for the little things you do, that makes us feel cared for and respected, all done with our dignity in mind.
