"Unwarranted waiting times for urgent appointment"

About: Warrington Hospital

After 2 spells as an inpatient my husband was referred to the cardiology team & advised to remain on Ward A7 over the weekend to be seen as an inpatient. On Monday he was told that the cardio ward was closed due to infection and to go home and he would be seen as an urgent out patient. He has a prolapsed heart valve, heart failure, atrial fibrillation and pleural effusion. That was 10 days ago. After yet another admission last night, problem with his blood test, we have now been told that his appointment is 10th August. This will be 6 1/2 weeks after he would have been seen as an inpatient. This is totally unacceptable. He is poorly and anxious and this worry is not helping him at all. What happened to the patient promise that cancer & heart patients should be seen within 2 weeks?
