"Superb care in A & E and Ward 6A (S)"

About: Lister Hospital

My 96year old Mother was taken to A&E at Lister on 19th June and it was found that she had suffered a large bleed to her brain. She was admitted to Ward 6A (S).Her consultant explained to us that nothing could be done for her. Sadly she died one week later, my brother and I were with her when she passed away . I want to say that the care she received from all the staff was excellent and that our family was kept informed of her condition at all times .The consultant went to great lengths to explain her care plan. Thank you all so much.

Thank you for getting in touch at what must still be a very sad time for you all. We were so heartened, however, to read how you felt that both your mother and her wider family were looked after so well during her last few days. It's a sad fact of life that people die in hospital, but having a good death is terribly important - and your message underlines that fact only too well. Thanks again for taking the time to provide your feedback - we'll make sure that our colleagues in the Lister's emeregency department and on watd 6A south get to read your kind words as soon as possible. In the meantime, may we wish you and your family well for the future.
