"Abdominal Pain - unexplained"

About: Leighton Hospital

I would like to state that the day nurse staff on ward 12 are exceptional. However, if you have an overnight stay you are in for a shock. Ridiculous length handover held in corridor where they openly talk about patients with constant personal comments on whether they should be in the ward at all. If you are on timed pain relief I suggest you raise as a concern as you will not get it on time if at all. Most of the staff have a serious attitude and should you ask for anything or raise a concern verbally, expect even worse treatment. God forbid you ask anything of any nurse if they just started. I was on a 4-5 hr morphine cycle with Piriton to ease itching. I was issued morphine but the Piriton was deliberately delayed to cause maximum discomfort by almost an hr. I am submitting an official complaint after this post but it is quite simply the worst case of patient care I have ever seen. Good luck

I am very sorry that you have had a poor patient experience on ward 12 and would very much like to speak to you so we can investigate this further. We would be grateful if you could contact our customer care department on 01270 612410 at your convenience to discuss further. Helen Nutkins Matron Surgery and Cancer
