"On both occasions I was impressed with the care"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Accident and emergency Solihull Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I was taken ill in the middle of the night in January 2013 and was taken unconscious to the emergency department of Heartlands hospital. My family was treated with utmost kindness and my husband who is disabled was treated with great respect and everything was explained to him. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and kept in hospital for a week. Nothing was too much trouble for the very hard working nurses and they all made what could have been a very frightening and upsetting experience for both myself and my family bearable.

Later on that year I had a scheduled hip replacement in Solihull hospital. Again I was treated with the utmost respect and again nothing was too much trouble for the nurses. I also was assessed by Social Services for equipment that I could use at home to aid my recovery and found them to be very caring and helpful. As my husband is disabled one of them very kindly arranged to meet my son in law at my home to establish what I would need.

I have been really impressed with the treatment both my family and I received and I cannot praise the hospital staff highly enough for their caring and hard work. It certainly helped my recovery.
