About: Hexham General Hospital

Amazed at the high standards of all care provided. I am a health professional and was particularly impressed with both the staff and the level of cleanliness. Only downside was the food, though it was adequate, certainly no worse than other hospital food experienced. The whole process from referral to op was professional, but obviously caring. Night staff on ward 3 were stellar! But all staff were very good. Not sure if there was maintenance going on on the ground floor, but hearing drilling prior to orthopaedic surgery was a little unnerving, but did not affect my review. Toilet paper holders were a little far away from the loo for ease of independent use, again only a minor criticism. I would definitely advise any friends or family to consider Hexham if they required any of the services that can be provided there.

We want our teams to focus on providing high quality and reliable care but importantly we also want this care to be delivered at all times with kindness and compassion. I am delighted that noticed just how important this is to us and that you chose to comment on how caring all our staff were. Thanks also for identifying some areas for improvement - over the years we've learnt that paying attention to the little things really does matter and that really there are no ideas too big or too small when it comes to improving care for patients. I am sorry that you had to listen to drilling prior to your op - I can appreciate just how unnerving that must have been. We will also feed back your comments on food and the position of the toilet paper holders to our estates and facilities team. Thank you. Above all, I will ensure that the fantastic team on ward 3 get to read your kind words - I know just how much it will mean to them....especially the stellar night staff.
