From the outset referral from my GP through to surgery the UCH service was excellent. I was involved in making decisions on treatment options pre surgery and fully informed throughout. Care pre and post surgery was very high, the ward staff were engaged in achieving the best outcome for me which included keeping me in an additional night after I was told I could be discharged at 5pm...so that they could arrange the district nurse. The frequent observations gave me confidence that I was in good hands and during the follow up doctor consultant visits I felt looked after. The wards were clean, beds changed daily and all staff followed hygienic practice. The only neg point was the patient bathroom wasn't checked often enough and with sick people this is a vital area to keep clean... Lastly food was of a high standard and a lot nicer than I expected.
