"First class surgery and aftercare"

I had double partial knee replacements at Goring Hall 2 weeks ago under the excellent care of a consultant. The surgical team, nursing staff and physiotherapists were professional, enabling and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I was involved in the decisions about my operation in advance and during treatment and I was given the facts necessary to make an informed decision about the best treatment plan. I was a little nervous about having the spinal injection but everything was clearly explained to me and on the day the anaesthetist was very careful to ensure I knew exactly what was going on and the theatre nurse was very supportive. It was all fine. As a result of having the spinal injection(rather than a general anaesthetic) I recovered quickly on the first day in clean comfortable surroundings and was able to walk with one stick the next day, and then the following day I went home, no sticks at all and my physiotherapy appointment letter was waiting for me for an appointment a few days ahead. Quite amazing. I was given a set of exercises to do which were practised at the hospital alongside being taught how to walk up and downstairs safely) and walking goals were set.. I have done all the exercises asked of me and have built up my walking each day. On Monday (day 12 after the op) I walked the dog for 1.5 miles and today 14 days after the op I walked 5 miles in Brighton shopping, going up and down stairs,sitting down having lunch plus a walk.on the front and felt really well and strong. I am now on minimal pain relief and the knees are healing well. I am walking normally and have a new lease of life. I'm off to France for a holiday in 2 weeks. I cannot thank the consultant and all his team enough for all they have done for me and I would recommend Goring Hall to anyone having this type of operation. .Many thanks Fiona White
