"The most dreadful experience of my life"

About: Stafford Hospital

I won't recount the fill details here, but suffice to say that no one believed I was in labour and said I was 'too polite' to be. I was left to sit on a chair for 4 hours after my son was born as the 'paperwork needed doing', my bed wasn't changed for the whole stay, I was reprimanded for asking for maternity pads for bleeding, a paediatrician put a dirty nappy back on my baby and damaged his cord stump and I practically had to beg to be discharged. A good majority of the staff I encountered were rude. I would never visit this hospital again and even in case of serious injury would rather risk increased travel time and go elsewhere.

I am sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with our maternity services and apologise for the fact that your experience was poor.

We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. I would appreciate it if you would be willing to contact Anne Mellor, the Head of Midwifery Services to enable this. Anne's number is 01785 257731 extension 4823.

Kind Regards

Angela Grocott

Head of Patient Experience
