"Shoulder injury"

About: Chippenham Community Hospital

My son injured his shoulder on Sunday evening. Monday morning it was still painful and stiff so I decided that we ought to check it out. I visited the web site of Chippenham hospital where the opening hours were quickly found and headed on down to the minors injuries unit. He was assessed and an x- ray obtained which confirmed a fracture. He was given care advice and a follow up appointment for fracture clinic. By 0930 we were on our way home. Thanks for the prompt service. Going to our local hospital for this type of injury was far less traumatic for my son and conveinient for me as I did not have any transport issues, long drive or parking problems. Additionally, no long waiting time, which would be expected at a larger hospital because more serious case take priority. As a resident of Wiltshire, I am pleased that I had the choice of a local hospital to take my son to,who delivered the service that was needed. If I had had to go to a large hospital, that would have been more stressful for us because of the drive through Monday morning rush hour traffic and the time delay in getting treatment. This is exactly the type of service that we need to keep and provide more of, in this community.
