I visited Newark Hospital today, not as a patient but accompanying someone who was. In an age when the NHS is at an all time low in public perception this hospital dispels all such preconceptions. Calm, friendly, thoughtfully decorated it was a pleasure not a chore to attend today. The staff at the department involved could not have been more helpful and human. Everything explained in a clear and compassionate manner with plenty of opportunity to respond uninhibited to what was being said. The treatment of other patients with clear additional needs, observed in the waiting area, was compassionate and without patronising. Every member of the team was efficient, good natured, calm and communicative. If I have the misfortune to need the services of an NHS hospital in the Newark and Sherwood region I will have no concerns about using the services of Newark Hospital. And I nearly forgot to mention the lovely, friendly, helpful people serving in the tea rooms. Thank you all very much.
