"Differing opening hours"

About: Altrincham General Hospital

I attended the minor injuries clinic recently in the evening. The hours of the Minor Injuries clinic are shown on the website as “0800 to 2000” with the x-ray times being “0830 to 1800”. I missed the different times for x-ray and had to return - annoying when you've got an injured foot - that could have been made much clearer. More fundamentally it’s just silly to have different hours. Many patients will need an x-ray. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful, the practice of shouting people’s names from ten yards away didn’t give a welcoming introduction. It’s not too much to ask that nurses collect their patients from the waiting area.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

Since your comments were posted, the new Altrincham Hospital has opened and the Minor Injuries Unit has been relocated within the new site. X-ray facilities are now available during the unit opening hours and the website has been updated with the new opening times.

Staff in the new unit do still have to call out patient’s names, however this allows patients to see the nurses/clinician. We hope that this does offer a more welcoming and friendly environment.

It is difficult to respond to all the posts fully because of a lack of specific information, therefore if you would like to discuss this with us in more detail please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
