I recently had a thyroidectomy and stayed in ward d 44 (although as I understood it was staff from ward c33 who were moved there due to refurbishment). From the morning I arrived all staff from the nurse to the surgeon and anaesthetist were extremely helpful in listening to me and reassuring me. I was promptly brought down to the operating theatre and again everybody was highly professional, explaining everything and making me feel very calm. The operation went very well, one week down the line my scar is very small and neat and I'm not in any pain. During my two days in hospital all staff were extremely helpful and friendly, coming in to check on us even when we weren't due any checks or hadn't called. They were also very accommodating with my children visiting. The ward was also very clean and the food actually not bad at all for a hospital! Thank you to all staff in that ward, including the two fabulous student nurses. They have restored my faith in the British medical system!
"Excellent care"
