About: The Royal London Hospital For Integrated Medicine

(as the patient),

What I liked

Having more time to discuss my symptoms with the doctor than I would with a GP and knowing I'd benefit from her knowledge of conventional as well as complementary medicine.

Being able to attend a Women's Clinic that uses complementary therapies and being treated by a doctor who, by dint of her sex, has invaluable insight into patients' needs and feelings.

What could be improved

The room where I received acupuncure had a very inefficient heating system and as one is lying still, with needles inserted all over, one's body temperature falls quickly. It is therefore essential to provide for the patients' comfort by by providing suitable heating. Due to the inserted needles, one cannot use blankets to cover oneself completely.

Anything else?

I feel more GP's surgeries should be made aware of the various specialised clinics such as the Women's Clinic I attended. I made a point of telling my GP how helpful my past treatment at RLHH had proved and giving him a leaflet on the clinic to keep for - hopefully - referring future patients.
