"Emergency Department Experience"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

I somewhat reluctantly visited the ED due to very painful chest pain which was causing me breathing difficulties. From the prompt response by the helpful reception staff to the nursing, X-ray and medical staff, I honestly think the service provided by ED was outstanding. I'm a firm believer that emergency means emergency so was worried I was wasting time, however, the staff were wonderful, thorough and extremely kind. The facilities were also spotlessly clean. I should also say that my partner was amazed that the reception staff could tell him exactly where I was in the unit - which seemed incredibly well organised, especially as there were so many patients. This is obviously a reflection on your back-room operations working very efficiently too - an area that I suspect rarely receives credit. I sincerely hope not to visit again in a hurry but that is definitely no reflection on your service! Thank you so much. Jacqueline Ashmore

Dear Jacqueline, Thank you so much for your invaluable feedback regarding your recent attendance at our Emergency Department (ED). All our staff work hard and strive to provide our patients with the best care possible and we were extremely pleased to hear that you felt this aim was achieved on this occasion. All patient feedback is important to us as this gives us the opportunity to learn and implement improvements wherever possible and I will ensure that your comments are shared with all the staff in ED as I am sure they will also be most appreciative. Once again, many thanks for taking the time to provide us with your kind feedback and may I take this opportunity to wish you and your family my kindest regards and best wishes, Deborah Furness, member of the Patient Experience Team at Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
