About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

I have been coming to Frimley park all my life and have always rated it very highly! But yesterday I had to bring my 4 yr old son in as he had fallen and hurt his arm, it turns out it is broken. Now the dr that we saw in a&e was fantastic - brilliant with my little boy and really good at their job. But when we had to go for an x ray, my little boy got really scared and was sobbing and I had to drag him in the room, but the radiographer did nothing really to help and was next to useless!! I did manage to get my son to have the x ray but the staff were not at all child friendly in the x ray room!! When it came to a nurse putting the cast on my sons arm, again he was quite agitated and afraid and the nurse was downright rude! From what this nurse said to another nurse I think they were having a "bad day" but the nurse has a duty of care and was in no way caring towards my son. I even told the nurse that he was scared & even then the nurse didn't try to calm him down or explain to him what was about to happen!! I was furious to say the least! My son is a very outgoing, chatty little boy and when he was speaking to the nurse it was like the nurse couldn't be bothered to answer him. Disappointed doesn't even cover it!! Like I said at the beginning, I have been coming to Frimley park all my life, I have had my two children there and have been admitted myself on several occasions and I rave to people about what a brilliant hospital it is and reccomend it but this was the WORST experience I have ever had there! I only hope that if we have to go again in the future that we have a better experience and that it re stores my faith in Frimley park.

While it is good to read that you hold our hospital in high regard, we were disappointed to hear that the attitude of some staff on your recent visit did not come up to our usual standard of care, and we would like to apologise to you and your son for any distress caused. We are very grateful to you for bringing the matter to our attention and wondered if it was possible for you to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service team to provide a few more details (palsusers@fph-tr.nhs.uk, 01276 526530). This would give us the opportunity to support staff in communicating well with patients at all times in future. We hope that your son is recovering well.
