"Para medics and stroke unit"

About: University Hospital Of North Durham

I suffered a stroke and was completely paralised down my right side and with great difficulty contacted emergency services (lots of irritating questions) and although I live in Teesdale the ambulance arrived very quickly with a para medic who knew me (very re assurring) and conveyed me to stroke unit at Durham Hospital. On arrival met by consultant and from there my treatment was excellent, the staff were good humoured and very professional. On a ward of 4 one of whome was a very distressed elderly man who made demands on the staff but he was treat with dignity , cheerfulness and again professionally. I left in the morning and I can not praise the staff enough...hopefully though I wont have to meet them again.....for some time anyway
