"dermatology"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Dermatology

I found the disabled parking quite far from dermatology. the waiting room was boiling, there were several pregnant ladies who were fanning themselves. then on one of the hottest days in the UK the 2 roof windows that were open closed! the wait was 30 mins for my appointment but people before me had waited over an hour! all staff were friendly in dermatology and my specialist was great. however the receptionist in the main hartshead building was very rude, their attitude was a disgrace to say they are the first face you see I wasn't impressed. The receptionist was busy moaning about a dr off too another receptionist and only stopped to scream or bark directions which weren't very clear. when the person in front of me queried what the receptionist repeated what had been said slower and louder as if he couldn't speak English and was deaf!! on leaving the building I was disgusted with the amount of smokers there. some were in their pyjamas and were hooked up to machines!! Why aren't these people fined? there was around 30 people there! also I was surprised to see people smoking ecigs in the waiting rooms too!

Thank you for posting these comments and bringing these to my attention. We constantly strive to ensure that the patients journey from start to finish is as smooth as possible I am glad you were treated well in the Dermatology clinic. We strive at all times to ensure patients are spoken to in a clear, friendly & approachable manner and this seems not to have been the case. I have passed these comments onto the outpatient’s manager in order for your concerns to be addressed. With regards to smoking it is difficult to stop patients and visitors smoking outside our buildings because it is not illegal although we do try to discourage this. The Trust does have a no smoking policy which also forbids the use of e-cigs inside our buildings.

Kind regards

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing
