"Poor communication from Darent Valley Hospital Kent? - Or low on funds from PCT?"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

(as the patient),

Hi i'm a 30 year old female who works for the NHS connecting for health service desk (I.T. systems). I have been suffering with a problem that could be neurology based. I have been to Darent Valley hospital once for an appointment with a consultant for Neurology and was told nothing was wrong with me last year after they had looked into my MRI scan. I have recently had a relapse with unknown issue that GP or the neurologist can confirm from what i suffer with. I had suffered with some form of numbness or paralysis to the left side of my body with headaches and constant crikes in the neck and constant pain from the back of my head to my shoulder blades.

I was told by my G.P that he would make an urgent appointment for me to go back to Darenth Valley hospital to see the Neurologist again. So i was told that an appointment would be sent out to me in the post. It was only when i decided to call the Neurologist department and spoke to his secretary in regards to an appointment. To be told that they were not accepting any new refferals from GP's whether they were urgent or not.

I have now requested my local PCT that i would like to be sent to King's College Hospital. I am still awaiting this and wonder how long a patient can be kept waiting for a correct diagnosis on a recurring neck & back problem.

I would not hold your breath if your going to see a neurologist at Darenth Valley as i originally had to wait 6 months to see someone. I feel that communication with me and my GP is poor andhas not happened in a reasonable time frame.
