"severe back compalint"

About: Lincoln County Hospital

I started with lower sharp back pain that started causing spasams and excruciating pain , causing my left side to deflate and fall to one side . got given medication that did not take pain away . the pain got worse rang 111 they rang 999 I was amitted to a and e where my blood pressure had dropped so severe. the doctors saw me and said it could just be muscle damaged not sure go home. I said the pain was increasing after a dose of morphine and tramadol the pain was still there getting worse. I asked for xray as the pain was increasing they no we are not giving you one go home . matron came and said go home. I said I can barely walk , matron gave me crutches to slide out of a and e. gave me tradmadol prescription but 4 days in pain is still there and spreading around the lower body an legs. I have not been to toilet they seem not to care about that. im seeing my own to today again but im very annoyed that the amount of pain care I received at hospital especially after I arrived on a stretcher . I can not back to work because of the pain. and no real answer . I spoke to 3x doctors .

Dear Natalie

Thank you for taking time to tell us your experience and I am so sorry to hear that you are still in terrible pain despite the medication given to you in A&E. The matron would like to speak to you about your experience and has asked if you could telephone her directly on 01522 512512 ext 2752. The tramadol you were given do cause constipation and we apologise that we failed to inform you of the side effects of the tablets. Matron will speak to the team members and will reinfornce the need for medications to be fully explained to patients and also provide written information if it is available.
