"Neither one thing nor another"

About: Ripon and District Community Hospital

I attended Minor Injuries following a sports injury. I was told it was soft tissue damage and to come back in a week if it was still causing pain. I came back a week later to be told it was now a ' chronic problem' and that I should have gone to see my GP instead. Never even considered x ray. Went to GP. Got an x ray. Turned out to be a fracture. Not very impressed I'm afraid.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we greatly appreciate your feedback. Services at Ripon Community Hospital are part of Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust and we always do our best to provide the highest quality of care for all patients. Staff in the Minor Injuries Unit see a very wide range of conditions and will use their best clinical judgement in each case. This will include providing appropriate scans if considered necessary or requested by the patient, but I am sorry that in your case the full extent of the injury was not identified more quickly. If you would like us to look into your case in more detail, please contact the Patient Experience Team on (01423) 555499 or email thepatientexperienceteam@hdft.nhs.uk Thank you again for taking the time to contact us. Yours faithfully Chris Watt Head of Communications Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust
