"Problems with my GP Practice"

We moved to Wales two years ago and are shocked by the local GPs, they are like something out of the 70's. We lived in a similar geographic area in England and had an efficient, well organised and very caring practice. My mother is elderly and has several serious health conditions; I have CFS and recently my partner has been experiencing severe and worrying pain in her abdomen.

Our GP practice makes us all cry with despair and the feeling that no one actually cares. The organisation of the practice is terrible, information doesn't get passed on, most of the receptionists treat you like the enemy, wrong medication has been prescribed because of disorganisation and bad communication with the pharmacy. They don't have a triage system, so if you do need to see a dr urgently you have to justify why and share personal info with the receptionist. The doctors I have seen are essentially uncaring, they treat you like you are a pain because you are intelligent and request a certain level of treatment. None of us want to go there but have little choice because of our health needs and we can't find anywhere better within out catchment. I feel sad that the local people think this is normally and eternally grateful to our old practice.

When my mother moved here she had been seeing an incontinence nurse and had got to the point where something was going to be done about her problems. Two years later, she has been passed from pillar to post, her incontinence has got so bad she won't go and stay anywhere else so can't travel to visit her grandchildren in England and she spends a small fortune on nappies. Yet still there is no sign of any treatment, she has been dropped off the incontinence clinics lists as far as we can tell and the GP does nothing and doesn't seem to care. It is a nightmare.
