"Bowel blockage removal"

About: Southend Hospital

Was referred for a bowel problem And was seen by the consultant who told me I had a blockage in my bowel and he told me he would have to preform Surgury to remove. The. Problem and I would have to. Be on a Stoma bag for 3 months and after that time he would do a reconnection of my bowel and then a further 3 months I'd be back to normal and lead a normal life again. But he told me porkys as he preformed the operation in 2011 And now in 2014. I'm still on a Stoma bag I don't trust any surgeon now.

I am truly sorry that your surgery in 2011 did not have the outcome that you expected. Sadly on occasion, surgery does not have the outcome that we predict and complications can arise. If you have not done so already, you can contact our complaints team who can look into the circumstances surrounding your surgery and provide you with information about what has happened to you. they can be contacted on complaints@southend.nhs.uk Steve McEwen Patient Experience Lead
