"waiting for MRI scan results at UHNS"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

(as a relative),

My mother was referred for an MRI, after our repeated requests to the GP who just asked the pain specialist to organise it even though my parents were willing to pay for a private scan, she had the scan within a couple of months of referral but it has taken 3 months to get a written report from the Radiologists even after repeated phone calls from my father to the referring Consultants secretary.

The scan now shows severe spinal stenosis, which I diagnosed myself via Google and she now has to wait for an appt with a spinal surgeon.

My friend also had to wait for 3 months for her MRI scan to be reported on and she also had spinal stenosis which needed operating on within a couple of months on an urgent basis or she may have lost the ability to walk! In my opinion these delays in obtaining results are completely unacceptable and life threatening!
