"Rude reception at St. Andrew's Group Practice"

I attended the reception at St. Andrew's Group Practice based within Elliott Chappell Health Centre. I needed to collect a sick note to send to my place of work. The reception was very rude, one person to me I felt they had no manners and couldn't even raise a smile. One individual seemed 'put out' by my request for my sick note which I knew was ready as I had phoned the surgery a couple of hours previously and spoke to a very pleasant individual who said it would be ready for me.

However, one individual, when I got there, just seemed to me to stare at me blankly when I said who I was and what I had attended for, making me feel like I needed to carry on talking to fill in silence as they didn't respond. When they did decide to speak they questioned me about my sick note, almost like I was making it up (it felt this way to me because of their overall attitude and tone of voice). They then informed me that they would have to speak to the doctor and asked me to take a seat- not 'please take a seat' etc or something similar which I would expect, their manners were shocking.

After waiting a couple of minutes my name was called and handed my note to me, I thanked them but they said nothing - they didn't even look at me.

I have worked in the NHS many years and know just how important it is for front of house staff to be welcoming and polite to the public. Thankfully I wasn't a vulnerable patient but I dread to think how one would feel when faced with this kind of reception.

I left the surgery feeling very annoyed and looked down upon. This person needs some training in manners asap!
