"Time Wasters - Trauma Clinic - Outpatients Dept"

About: Worthing Hospital

My 3yr old had an appointment to have his cast removed and we had to wait 2 hours for a 5 minute procedure to be done!!!! This was the second time at this clinic and the first time we had to wait 1 hour 30 minutes. Both times we were told that the reason for the long wait was because there was only one person doing the casts/plasters. It is very hard to sit in a clinic for that long with young children who do not understand the situation. While we sat waiting... so many patients complained about the wait. One lady just had to leave as her children were crying of hunger as it was past their lunch hour. What is the point of an appointment if the clinic is so disorganised?

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback which we have forwarded to the manager for the department. We are sorry for the delays that you experienced with your child and agree that the situation you experienced must have been very frustrating. We are working to improve waiting times in this department but appreciate there is much more work to be done. As NHS Choices is a confidential site they do not share your details directly with us. If you would like to talk to us further about your experience you can do this by visiting our website www.westernsussexhospitals.nhs.uk/contacts/pals/, calling our PALS department on 01903 285032 or emailing us at PALSWorthing@wsht.nhs.uk
